As the situation with COVID-19 continues to evolve, Gibson Energy is committed to the health and well-being of our employees, our stakeholders and the communities in which we operate. Gibson has transitioned its Pandemic Response Team to the Re-Entry Team and continues to meet regularly to proactively plan and monitor developments in our operating areas. The Re-Entry Team continues to plan, educate and inform Gibson employees on how to safely and effectively navigate the re-entry process.
Our focus and priorities continue to be:
Health and Safety of the Workforce
Our approach to returning to the office in each of our operating areas continues to be guided by federal, provincial and municipal guidelines. We continue to use public health authority’s guidance to inform our decision to have employees back in the office. In areas of operations where COVID-19 numbers are high, only essential workers are at the workplace with the remainder of employees working from home. In areas of operations where COVID-19 case numbers are stable, Gibson workplaces operate with strictly controlled guidelines to ensure a safe transition back to the workplace. Gibson has implemented a phased re-entry approach for staff to ensure that physical distancing measures can be adhered to. Remote work continues to be utilized and many employees alternate between working from home and working from the workplace.
Gibson has implemented extensive health and safety protocols to keep employees safe as we re-enter the office. These protocols are based on guidance from health authorities and government agencies.
These measures include:
In our field locations, we are continuing operations and have implemented the following measures to ensure the health and safety of our employees:
Continuity of Operations
Gibson continues to withstand the economic downturn of the energy sector and remains well-positioned to navigate the challenges of COVID-19. Our robust portfolio and assets remain, and we continue to deliver best in class services to our valued customers and stakeholders.
Community Investment
Supporting the communities that we live and operate in has remained at the forefront of Gibson’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Gibson Energy recently announced a $1 million donation and a five-year-partnership with Trellis as their Youth Mental Health Champion. We have also launched Youth Mental Health Partnerships in the areas that Gibson operates.
Gibson employees have continued to show solidarity and support to their communities by raising over $250,000, with Gibson’s match, this year alone. Since the COVID-19 pandemic was declared, we have partnered with long-term care facilities to offer support to vulnerable residents through this time of isolation and have provided front-line workers with warm meals as they continue to care for patients.
